Wow. A completely new circuit. All of the 2nd track proposals I have seen previously at least used the existing pit straight and pits area. It would be a shame to have to duplicate these facilities again only a couple of km away on the new track...

As they can only close the public road for a limited number of times during the year, they should have done it ages ago. The Bend in SA and Hidden Valley in Darwin show that a full time motorsport complex catering for a range of disciplines is quite viable.

    Bring it on.

Sadly, the prob for Mt Panorama is that its basically in town and I suspect if they go full time that the track will go the same was as Amaroo, Oran Park and all of the others - and that is to close. Full time tracks really need to go out into the middle of nowhere to be a long term proposition and Mt Panorama isn’t that.

Not that the mountain would ever be a fulltime circuit, but I believe it would lose some of it's "mysteekk" if it did. Amaroo was a great circuit and was a sad day at the last meeting. I got my CAMS License at Oran Park (and had some interaction with the wall coming onto the main straight ) so that has some emotion attached to it as well. Out of curiosity I googled Oran Park.

When I was a kid growing up in Bathurst, Mt Pan was out in the sticks. Over the years city growth has slowly encroached all the way out to the Mt. There has also been some that have bought expensive houses on the mountain who then complain about the disruption and noise on race days.....

Doesn't really worry me. I last went to the big race before I met Elisabeth. I went with a mate in his brand new VC Valiant.

I haven't watched the race in years.

Wont be long till Motor Racing close to population is under 100dB with the advent of EV , That will keep the local residents sane , Esp Albert Park with Formula E , The petrol heads will still be happy to go to Winton, pretty sure you cant hear race day from Benalla.

Amaroo was my favourite track to drive.
Did a full day testing customer cars there just before closure.
You were busy all the way around, and it was so bloody satisfying to get right.

I only watch MotoGP these days, have little interest in racing but I'm glad another permanent circuit is being built.

I would've loved to design one, I absolutely loathe the Herman Tilke circuits and their clones.

Amaroo, Bathurst, Phillip Island, Spa, Suzuka, Mugello, etc.
    Balls to the wall commitment.

They're real race tracks. Bathurst upgrades... woohoo!

What nobody could ever understand was why the noise meter there was on the inside
