 I believe that Mr Moffat was the first driver to bring professionalism ( that is, proper sponsorship ) to motor racing here. It took time for it to stick, but it did. 
I also no longer watch F1, when I used to get up in the middle of the night for each race. I kept on with F1 longer though, because guys like Senna and Schumacher transcended the boring corporate stuff. Nowadays the rules governing the cars and teams won't even allow that. 
But Ian, everything is now a business. You northerners should hang on to your rugby, but it won't be too long before it 1, copies the AFL, or 2, is swallowed by it.
