    Hinomoto Backhoe

Bit of a long shot but asking for my Dad...
Does anyone happen to have a Hinomoto C174 HST Backhoe and if so, a good source for parts for it?

Dad bought one (really shouldn't have), its starter was had it though he lucked on to a good mechanic who has done something miraculous with it, but its looking like it needs new rings and he has no idea where to get them from for this machine

I googled a few contacts a while back and found some phone numbers, some no longer valid, one of them indicated the best bet would be to get a contact in Japan who can help out as he was pretty certain those machines or others like it would be in plentiful supply over there.

apparently they dont make their own engines.... (quick google search)

have a look at the engine and grab the identifying details off of that and see what that yeilds.

    as a similar example.

trying to get hold of some cummins engine bits is stupid expensive, but if you have the same engine as the one that gets stuffed into the american combine harvesters some of the bits are available cheaper from the combine harvesters supply than from cummins.

For spelling call Rogets, for mechanicing call me.

This site infers the tractor model is the same as 3 others, an Allis Chalmers 5105, a Deutz-Allis 5215 and a Simplicity 9518 and runs a Yanmar or Toyosha 3 cyl engine. If you have no luck contact JP Engineering who supply loose rings and should be able to supply to match your samples.

This guy used to import them. When I was looking for my tractor I'd found a Hinomoto C174 in this guys yard. I didn't buy it as I found my Case. Ironically though, a neighbour did a few months later! Give him a call as he used to import them. Might b of use.

Fendt yes, the others I'd be slow to buy now a days. Kubota is still a good bet too.. Avoide the CNH Maxfarms.. They're shocking things. Branson Tractors out of Korea seem to take a flogging. They have a little Cummins in them. The Hinomoto's were a great little tractor, just parts are hard to find. Pics of the tractor in question might help...

the 174 was the backhoe, but apparently it's engine was the same as the tractor in the series (172)
Thanks for the links, will go through them and see what we can find.

No he should't have bought one but he's ever the one for the cheapest way out...
I think he may have owned one when younger

My father has one and has owned it from new. they were sold through Massey Ferguson. He has never had to buy anything but filters for it (it been a great little tractor) but he still gets them from the same Massey Ferguson dealer he brought it from.

Could you refer me to the particular Massey dealer your father dealt with please? Dad has tried one Massey mob but it really does depend who's left in the company long enough to remember the hinomotos I guess!
