All you blokes who say they cop a flogging etc,I ran LV workshops for quite some time at different sites and the reason why they keep going is because of OH&S laws the vehicles need to be kept at a safe standard so they get parts thrown at them like none of you would believe,I have costed both 130 Td5's and LC's at the same site over a 2 year period and the result was the same, there was nothing in it. Pat
Spot on there mate, bloody tough cars. But i will say Toyota have made the company i work for look around at other makes because to take anything underground with a turbo needs a fire suppression system fitted adding about $5000? to the cost.
The interior of the V8 cruisers is no where near as rugged as the old school models, bits and pieces fall off and break. And not sure why but they seem to be a bit harder on springs and break pads.
You get some blokes driving like Brock in standard crusiers, mate you should see how fast they can go in the V8's bloody scary!!!!
Crude, cramped, hard-riding, underpowered for the engine size - yep, I can certainly see why people would pay the 'Toyota tax' to get one - not.

SubscriberThat may be true for some sites but the one i work for unfortunately leases cars so they all go to town to get work done and they only do what work is requested such as just a service there could be heaps wrong with them and they only fix what is asked because if its not on the order they don't get paid. When they used to do it onsite it was way better kept on top of but now they don't get any attention and these places rip the mines of left right and centre i couldn't even imagine how much they charge!!
They are bloody tough cars and probably only good for mine sites because they would break ya back on the highway they are that rough!! Well being open cut we don't have to have a fire suppression system they just have to have an extinguisher on board so thats not a problem for us.
I will agree on the interior our door grab handles always fall off the window winders to and door handles seem to mess up a bit aswell.
Haha i must admit i give them a bit of a run to in the wet good fun but i mean really no use babying them when everyone else flogs the arse out of them but, your right there some people just drive like you can't believe haha!!
Anybody that thinks or says that a Landrover is as rugged or as reliable as a Toyota is in Denial.
one of the worlds most unreliable cars compared to one of the toughest.
would I ever buy a new Toyota , no way.
