MY16 Hilux - anyone know anything about the following please...

Just got my new company car - a new Hilux workmate. I've got to say it's a fair step up from the previous model and drives fine but there's a big question that no one seems to be able to tell me - the stupid customer care people at Toyota included.

How are you supposed to tie stuff in the back of the tub? It has exactly zero tie down points....

Toyotas response was to tie things to the outside tie down points, but it has a hard cover on it, so if you want to close that, or have something lower than the top of the tub, what then?????

I can't believe there isn't a factory option for this? I will be calling a dealer tomorrow to see if someone knows, but I can't find anything on the net either....

    Anyone have any ideas?

It's not its only problem but it's one I can't seem to get my head around...

    Thanks.

Should have mentioned that if I just did that, I'd get in big trouble, but that is what may have to happen in some way shape or form but with something a little nicer than the eye bolts.

I was hoping someone knew if there was a factory tie down available or an aftermarket one that bolts in somewhere - and where those points are if they exist.

It has a plastic tub in it, and I'd imagine there may be somewhere to be able to drill holes, but again, where...?

    Precisely...

I don't have suitable gloves or prescription safety glasses to be able to safely drill the holes and unauthorised holes drilled in the vehicle would incur fees of $300 each by the lease company last time I checked. Add to that if the points aren't specifically made for the vehicle or rated and bolted to an approved location, then forget it...

Definitely not playing in the real world here...

    Hi,
Any nuts/bolts you can get to and put a length of light chain between? I did that to solve the same problem in a borrowed trailer.
    Cheers

No, completely bare - nothing. I may have to lift the plastic liner out but I can't even figure out what holds that in yet...

Are you expected to carry loads in the tray? If so, it might be best to ask your company how you can restrain loads without tiedown points.
