I am replacing the rear rotors and pads, on the Paj, as preventive maintenance. I want DBA, as it's an Australian company, hopefully manufacturing here. The car is an intersuburb plodder, doing the (very) occasional interstate cruise. As such it only needs basic components and I have settled on Street Series pads and rotors. Trying to get the correct parts seems impossible using both rego and VIN as the identifier. The VIN gives a wide range of years and models, some overlapping. Finally identifying it as an NW I can extract the part number for the rotors. However I am offered two part numbers for the pads. The pads are not interchangeable, so I have to remove the wheel to visually identify the correct part.
I thought a VIN was the ultimate identification, determining down to the smallest washer, at which number bits changed. Apparently not, with Mitsubishi anyhow.

If it is anything like my Audi, which came with a few different brake options, they have codes for the brakes etc also. That code for me was in one of the cars books.

I think the issue is common across all manufacturers.
I've had problem with my Peugeots too.
Stil to this day I can't understand why Peugeot as a whole doesnt' have any listing for my 307 fuel filter.
Went to an indie parts place gave rego and VIN .. wrong filter type, and they were adamant that it was what was supposed to be fitted.
Went to Peugeot in Port Melb, they checked VIN, same filter as the indie parts place .. wrong.
While it was off the road for a short time, I pulled it out, found a part number and checked all over the net.
I think I found two sources(of repute) .. Ryco and a Delphi, the one on the car is a Delphi too ... and a few listings on parts places and ebay. All stated for my model of car, but parts place and Peugeot adamant that theirs is the only correct one.
No way to fit theirs with my hoses and piping, unless I modded the hoses and pipes to make it fit.
Brother had brake size problems with his 508 when he owned it. Car got stuck in my shed for a few days. Used VIN number to locate brake discs, front fine, but rears wrong size.

If in doubt just use the manufacturers parts,for brake parts,pads and rotors, they are usually pretty well priced.
For the Sons LC76,used genuine,not expensive and using the VIN,know they will be right which they were.
As for brake performance compared with after market,dunno,but no complaints so all good.![]()
The reason i prefer DBA is their reputation for exceeding OE quality and the originals got a slight warp below 10k k. It never got worse and was not detectable under normal/light application but I expected better.

A little off topic but I swapped from factory 320mm.front rotors on the Mitsubishi to 320mm DBA T3 slotted and DBA XTR pads. I had them machined once after wearing out the first set of pads and they are running nicely on the new set of XTR. I love them. Fantastic initial bite even cold and no fade that I can discern. Great feel too. I have had no issues at all having slotted even up in Cape York's dust, mud and sand. Cheers
Same car, same trip, the electric tailgate lock actuator decided it had had enough in the Alice, after taking the short cut down the Plenty/Sandover Highway. Took the car to a Mitsi dealer for a warranty fix, to be told it won't be covered as the car had been off road. I explained in the most restrained tone I could muster, that it had not left a gazetted road. I was told that if it was an electrical failure they would cover it, but not if it was due to dust intrusion, that being the case I would have to pay for all parts and labour. Being the original cynic, I wasn't going to trust them to tell the truth. A panel beater friend managed, with difficulty and time, to open the back door. It was a failure of the actuator. He contacted Mitsubishi and told them that if they supplied the part FoC, that would be the end of the story, but otherwise he would be back-charging them at retail rates. They must've thought it wasn't worth the argument. Other than that, it's been a good car.
