    Forklift Melbourne

    Team Aulro,

I'm trying to get an engine (crate) into Melbourne. A member of this forum has helped organise the loading and shipping but when it arrives it needs a forklift to unload it.

Can anyone in or around Melbourne provide a drop off point that has a forklift and is willing to receive delivery, unload the crate from the truck and load it into my van/trailer?

Otherwise I'm a bit stuck for options.

    Cheers,
    Matt

First question is how is it being transported ect truck and what size ect semi tray truck or trailer
Reason i ask is maybe a portable engine crane can lift it off , I have lifted a motor off a 8 ton pan tech in this fashion .
I have the use of a engine crane that could do this im in Narre Warren if that helps.

Narre Warren would help if it could be done with a crane.

I need to get an engine crane myself, but its likely to be a cheapy fold up one off ebay or second hand off gumtree. How much lift do you have in your crane?

lux201 is organizing delivery so hopefully he will chime in with the truck details.

you only need 2 lengths of steel box section and a crow bar.

tie the engine down hard to the pallet, (it already should be anyway)

lift the pallet with the crow bar, slide a steel bar under one side.
life the other side of the pallet and do the same.
use the crow bar to lever the pallet and bars over the edge of the truck.

as the pallet goes past the point of no return the bars will tilt down and if you've done it right the pallet can now be pushed or will slide down the bars until it hits the bottom.

use the crow bar to lever up the pallet, pull the steel bar out and lower it down. It may be easier to lift the 2 steel bars and drive the truck out first and then after you lower the bars and pallet remove the bars.

with practice and 3 bloke on bars and levers you can unload a 16 pallet truck in 20 minutes.

if all you have is a fridge trolly you can put that on the ground between the bars so the handle is nearest the truck and the foot is positioned to catch the leading edge of the pallet as it slides down the bars.
