    Canon EOS 1000 D

    G'day ,
Just purchased a Canon EOS 1000D Kit with twin IS lenses .
I'd like some suggestions for what - 'prime' - lenses - or - 'top quality zoom lenses' - you would recommend for a Canon Digital SLR Kit ?
How much ? - and - Where to purchase at a good price ?
    Thank's .

Before we can suggest type of lens you have to tell us which type of photography you would like to do.
assuming that you would like to do landscaping among other photogarphy my pick is the Tokina 12-24 f/4
For birds a very good primer and not very expensive is the Canon 300IS f/4
For macro you cannot go wrong with the Sigma 150mm
Now if you have plenty dough then instead of getting the 300mm f/4 get the f/2.8 or the big glass 500mm or 600mm which cost more that a Disco Td5
    Cheers

I mainly snap landscapes and macro pictures but I'd also like some quality zoom lenses in the kit for general photography .
I've just swithed from Pentax to Canon so I'm not sure what's avaiable for that brand of camera .
Also finding it hard to source a good lense stockist on the South side of Sydney .
    cheers .

Shop on the web mate, shops in Oz are not the best if you do not know which it is the best price on the web.
If the lens is under $ 1000 including postage get one from USA there are couple of sites very safe.

A Tamron 18-270 is a pretty good choice for a walk around lens.

AF18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro; Tamron USA, Inc.

I use one for most of my shots now days and before that a Tamron 18-250.

Most of my recent work here was done with the 18-270.

You can go Canon Digital Photography Forums - Powered by vBulletin to have a look at the different lens's available. It's a Canon Camera Forum.

BTW. Trying to decide which lens to buy is like walking in a minefield .. lol

After a bit more research I found a Camera shop in my area that has a pretty good stock of Canon equipment .
" Fotofriends " at Bankstown Metro Shopping Center .
They have a good website and prices are reasonable for a purchase / pick up type of set up .
They give pretty good discounts on accessories at point of sale if you purchase more than one item .
I ended up buying a Canon BG-E5 Battery Grip Kit and a Canon EF 100mm F/2.8 Macro USM plus extra LP-E5 Battery and three filters including a polarizer for just over $1000 .
Just need a good wide angle zoom for landscape photos .
    cheer's .

The Canon macro lens is very good!
Now relax and read THIS article

I am playing with the Nikon 6T close-up lens in the front of my 70-300 VR
Here is a detail of a grevillea flower.

    Thank's Guys .
For a good general wide angle landscape lense I've narrowed it down to three contenders .
    Canon 10 - 22 - f3.5 to f4.5
    Sigma 10 - 20 - f3.5
    Tokina 12 - 24 - f4
Any suggestions on what to pick out of these three ?
    cheers .
