Post your birdlife shots

All birds of prey photos were taken recently and I am reasonably happy with the results but would be happier if they were a bit sharper. I am still playing with this lens/camera combo and these were all taken hand held with VR on. I reckon 340mm is about the right setting for this lens and need to get used to dialling it back, next I plan to see if turning VR off improves the sharpness as some users say. Is there any value in going to TIFF's instead of hi res JPEG's ?. I've tried RAW but have difficulty editing them with the Nikon proprietry software. Any suggestions ?

Beautiful birds, seldom noticed as they sit very still, stretch their necks out and pretend to be a piece of bark/branch.

Steve, is a Superb Fruit-Dove, Scientific name: Ptilinopus superbus
Family: Columbidae, Order: Columbiformes

Thanks for that. It was at Taronga Zoo, so they are pretty tame. This was at 200mm, so it was really close.

Have just sorted through photo's from last years outback holiday. Came across these from Rudall River (Karlamilyi) National Park. Australias 2nd largest according to SWMBO next to Kakadu. Quite remote it's approx. 300 Km east of Newman in WA.
Whilst Button Quail are common in this area these Brown Quail ? are not, according to Mr Slater and family. Came out just on dusk, terrible light. A good result considering.

Willy Wagtail and lunch Rudall River NP, doesn't matter where you go you'll find 'em, more common than crows or seagulls. One of my favourite birds and very difficult to photograph.
