They are excellent and wouldn't look out of place in a bird identification book.. I did feel that a couple of them could do with a tiny bit more contrast just to give them a little more zing..

I'm not sure I want to post in this thread - there are too many great shots.

Thanks Sue for the kind words. Couldn't agree with you more on your critique. It's just a matter of figuring it out. Post Production is one answer but I have a major problem wrapping my head around PhotoShop so use less sophisticated/capable software. Using RAW instead of Hi Res JPG's might improve the result but the problem again is good editing software. I've got a feeling that the D300 has a more 'vivid' capture setting and 'photo enhancement' software built in. Have to find the book and have a read. Tended to shy away from this in the past. Realistically though I'll just have to take better photos.
Thanks again Sue for the input.

Was pretty happy with this though.

Best place to be Ron. There's plenty of good helpful advice here and the benefit of seeing what others are up to. Chucaro's advice in particular is always helpful as is the input of others including Bushie and KarlB.
Best of all it's an opportunity to 'show your stuff' and get good advice on how to do it even better.
I see you've sorted your blurry picture issue. Very nice.

Now, living in Tasmania I have the chance to add new birds in my collection.
This is a Yellow throaded honeyeater Lichenostomus flavicollis
The natural light was not the best, with a temperature over 35 the birds were close to a little water supply with a dense canopy over it and there was were I have my chances.
I have some more birds that I will post soon.
