Hi Dave, my guess would be an immature male Northern Figbird.

Subscriber............... just can't get them super sharp as yet....
won't be for lack of trying..................
You've done pretty well considering. It must have been fairly poor light to start with. Your exif data shows ISO 1100 , 1/250 at 6.3 metres from the subject and at max zoom of 300mm on your 70-300mm and fully open at f5.6.And the flash did fire. The 70-300mm is pretty soft at the upper end as was our 80-400mm and it took a bit of conscious effort and time to train myself to 'zoom back' a tad to around 350mm for a much better result even taking into account the extra cropping needed to compensate for less zoom.
At 20' from the subject you've got pixels to burn with the D7000. I reckon zooming back to say around 250mm (375mm effective) could have given a better result but considering the high ISO / low shutter speed conditions the chances of a crystal sharp result were basically nil.

Yellow faced has a very distinct black line under the eye,so I recon it is a mangrove??
The frogmouth didn't survive, the damage to the wing was superficial, but the X-ray also showed a broken spine.

I'm probably not being very fair to this new 200-500 f5.6, I seem to only get it out in the forest as it's approaching dusk.
Can't wait to see what it can do when I give it some decent light.
