Long story short, TV died so went to Dick Smith to buy a new one and saw a D90 on special, $200 or so buck more expensive than DWI but DWI doesnt do interest free, so after some paper work im the new owner of a Nikon D90 with tripod, oh and a 46in LCD TV.
Took it out around Mt Panorama tonight for a play as all the lights are on around the circuit because of the 12hr this weekend.
I tried taking some shots of the lights in town looking down from the Mount but they all came out blury, and thats with using a tripod, maybe im not steady enough even with the tripod. Maybe I need a remote shutter button or something.
Here is one of the shots, the rest are much the same. Bathurst by night isnt the best photo subject to begin with but I thought i'd give it a try.
Then some other shots around the circuit, Im happy with them for my first time using the thing and that all with auto settings, no fiddling, havent read the manual that far yet. Tried some of the shots with the night setting and then no flash. You can see the difference in the lighting.

I like this one, if only the car was on the bitumen and moving

Ah good ol interest free....
With your night shots you dont need a remote, just use the timer mode
Thanks guys, didnt think of the timer, thanks Mick. I'll give it a go.
Yeah the car had poor timing, we set up and then it parked to the side and was talking to the guy on the wall.
Going to the Drags at Eastern Creek tonight so should be able to play around with it some more.

For about $3 delivered you can get a tiny remote that looks just like the Nikon one...I got one off ebay for my D5000 and its great.
Cheers
