Thanks! Just what I have been looking for.
Just a heads up for those in Brisneyland or environs. Photo continental have ex gov 30D's, body only for $199. Its an old body and shutter activations are unknown. They come from police forensic upgrades to 60D's. If you know what your looking for its possible to dig through the ones available to pick one that has had minimal exposure to fingerprint powder.
Not earth shattering but they make a good second body. I just picked one up that will be used for astrophotography.
Thanks! Just what I have been looking for.
QUESTION WITHOUT NOTICE: DO THEY COME WITH A BATTERY CHARGER?
IS THE 499 WITH LENS A GOOD PRICE STARTER?
(REMLR 235/MVCA 9) 80" -'49.(RUST), -'50 & '52. (53-parts) 88" -57 s1, -'63 -s2a -GS x 2-"Horrie"-112-769, "Vet"-112-429(-Vietnam-PRE 1ATF '65) ('66, s2a-as UN CIVPOL), Hans '73- s3 109" '56 s1 x2 77- s3 van (gone)& '12- 110
They come with battery and charger and strap and paperwork and software disc.
There is the option to buy one with the kit lense, from memory its about 18 - 70mm for $499 but personally i would start out with the body only deal then grab a 'nifty fifty' lense for around $150 (50 mm fixed with 1.4 F ratio). then keep saving up your dollars for some better L series lenses down the track.
I bought one today to have as a second body. Looks like I'll be going to Dakar next year and there will be times that I don't want to subject more expensive gear to dust.
Looking forward to it arriving. I'm considering actually buying two if this one turns out to be in good condition. Can't fault the price.
Digger, as Mick says, they key with these is good glass. Quality lenses are an investment for life and it's amazing what can be done with a older model body if the lens is good.
yeah, but Im moving up from my pentax MG (black body) and lenses to this digital stuff! so have to rebuy lenses etc... pity cant keep using my old ones, especially the macro wide angle
anyway slowly moving up - Nay (my wife) bought herself a flash harry cannon one...1000d..and that is pretty good but I think complex to master!!! Luckily she lets me muck about with it every now and again..
If I had my way my mobile phone would still have a "dial"!!
We have been using a nice digital one at work for bushfire investigation stuff and they are OK (but most of the time unavailable so I use a "pocket digital" type one) but again have a huge multitude of settings... I spose when I buy my own its just farting about with it long enough to learn (but cheaper than when I first learnt...no film developing!!)
cheers

Dont toss your macro lenses just yet. There is a possibility that you could still use them with an adaptor. No auto focus but thats a given with the older gear.
At the end of the day your photos will improve out of sight if you use the capabilities of a decent DSLR. The 1000D isnt a bad camera its just a little more limited than the two digit Canons.

Mine turned up today.
It's definitely a used a camera and has a couple of small scratches. But for the money I can't complain.
Good day,
a friend of mine will be travelling to Lebanon in a couple of weeks, he lives in Sidney. I wonder, do they have a shipping service because I looked at their website but nothing is mentioned.
Regards
