    Bugger!!

Was camping over the last couple of days and my Tokina 12-24mm lens has stopped auto focusing.
The only way to use the lens is to manually focus it.

I guess I better get it looked at.

Going to get my 70-200mm lens looked at too only because at certain lengths when you auto focus the frame moves quite a bit its almost like the glass inside elements inside are loose or something doesn't do it through the whole zoom range only at the longer ranges.

Is this the same camera/lens you had problems with before ?
do you think there is a problem with my lense?

Is it the same problem ? or just seems the same to me?

Have a look if the contacts between the lens and the camera body are dirty, or the AF/MF ring switch on the lens isn't fully disengaging.

Some thing I worked out yesterday with my 70 300mm zoom shich wouldn't focus properly was caused by the normal / macro sliding switch.

I was playing with it one last time before bining it and jiggling the switch seems to have fixed the problem.

Also check your M/S/C focus switch on the camera body isn't slightly out of place.

DB - all my lenses stopped focusing within weeks and I couldnt figure out why. What I ended up doing was going back into the menu, changing the option for autofocus from shutter buttom and AEL button to just AEL (in other words, dissabling the half press shutter AF function) and then saved the setting... went back in and changed it back to both shutter and AEL and wallah, working again. So I can only gain that this is some kinda firmware bug.

    You the man!!!!!

My god I can't believe how dumb I'am

I totally forgot about that ring which can move in and out the lens was set to Manual focus and I didn't realise, I forgot about the ring and instantly thought it was broken.
