    D80 Replacement Suggestions?

SWMBO is heading off to the UK at the end of the month and I suggested it might be time to upgrade her D80, what with duty free etc. Good she said, I was thinking the same thing, what do you reckon a D90 ?. Trouble is I'm not current on Nikons offerings and would think the D90 would be obsolete as well by now.
The D80 has clocked up 50K+ shutter actuations, far more than my D70 with its 15K.
Won't be moving to the dark side, so replacement will be Nikon. Existing lens's will be compatable with replacement and it would be great if batterys (EN-EL3e) were also.
    Suggestions please ?

If you want to buy now I'd get the D7000. The D90 is a great camera, but a generation older than the 7000. The D7000 would be a noticeable jump from the D80, but the D90 won't be that much better unless you happen to need one of the newer features.

Also, Duty Free may not be that cheap - it wasn't last time I price checked them. Consider DWI and similar.

    Cheers, Steve

    Thanks Steve
Kaye came back today with a new D90 from Teds which cost her $920 and a Coolpix S8200 handbag camera as well. She'd looked at the D7000 but liked the D90 as it was 'exactly' the same layout as her old D80 and uses the same batterys as our other Nikons. It was also $500 cheaper.
There was also something about a $900 limit on the duty free claim and she's expecting around $100 back. So all in all it should come out at a bit over $800 with a local warranty which isn't a bad result.

The D90 is a great camera and with a good glass will be better than the new models fitted with a kit lens.
Now start saving for more lens

Right you are Arthur. Kaye was wise enough to leave the kit lens's alone and bought D90 body only.
Last trip she 'borrowed' my new AF-S VR 18-200mm f3.5~5.6G IF-ED and liked it so much she didn't give it back !!!!! In retaliation I bought a nice little AF-S 18-70mm f3.5~4.6G-ED second hand which I reckon is a real nice 'short' zoom and smaller and lighter than the 200mm zoom. This is now been added to the D90 so I guess I've lost this lens as well . But I reckon this will be a bit easier to manage when travelling.
What I'd really like (and Kaye when she pinches it) is a nice wide angle. You've got a Tokina wide angle haven't you ?. I like the look of Tokina's ATX 124 Pro DX II but am unsure if the extra cost over the old model is money well spent.

PS. Kayes spending a week in Spain on the way home, Barcelona - Madrid - Seville - Barcelona on a flying tour so I'll ask her to think of you.

The only issue on a TRS claim is that if it is for over $1000 the invoice must have you name and address details on it. Other than that any purchase for refund must total more than $300 and made within 30 days of flying out.

I claimed my Fuji X100 last year before going overseas

D90 is a good camera, enjoy it.
