    Safari Pics

Just got back from 2 weeks in South Africa, where we spent a few days at some game parks on the edge of the Kruger National Park. It was an unbelievable experience, and I took plenty of pics as you can imagine, so here's a few!

    I'll add more later!

    Cheers

Thank you Sean for the nice series.
Which telephoto you have used? Need to be 500mm +?
How close to the animals you can get?

    Hi Chucaro,

I wish I had a 500mm lense! Most of these would have been take on my 70-200mm, some may have been on my 24-105mm.

If you're in one of the open top Landy or Toyota safari trucks, you can get very close - we were literally within touching distance of Elephants on some occasions, and within a couple of metres of Lions and Leopards. They pretty much ignore the car and go about their business. Some of the others keep their distance a bit more, but generally you can get fairly close. These pics should give you some idea!

    Cheers
    Sean

Yeah, every now and then one of them would seem to get a bit irritated by our presence, trumpeting a warning and stamping their feet. Was a little bit disconcerting to say the least! But our guides assured us as long as we were in the car, and didn't stand up, we'd be OK ...

Very nice photos Sean, some of them are excellent.
Not easy to get a leopard and you captured it very well.
Thank you for sharing with us.

gee thanks Sean, those pics are very good. That little hornless Rhino looks so sad, kind of like he knows his been ripped off.
