    Hi
Im am getting into Digital SLR photography alonf with Green/Blue screen technology as a hobby

Have seen entry level Canon 1100 D with twin lenses for a tat under $600.

The EOS 1100D is basically, rubbish. You are better off with the Canon EOS 60D even thought it is more expensive it is significantly better than the 1100D.

The Nikon D3200 is the pick of the low end DSLR cameras at present by a country mile.

Agree 100% and I will say that the new Nikon with the Sony sensor (made for Nikon) are the best cameras in their class.

I second the above. You want the best lens you can get too as the edge detail is critical for any screening to remain clean. You might want to learn (a little) about lighting too—tonal graduations need to be spotted early for your hair to remain intact... That's why many of the pro's are bald...

An average body is fine, I started with a Canon XXXD and have since moved on... The main thing you want with any brand is good lenses. Lenses will stay with you for a lot longer than bodies will... Ie. Kit lenses are rubbish, spend the extra instead a 60D and get a decent lens with a 1100.

Canon, Nikon... They're as good as each other, it comes down to user preference... If you choose Nikon, expect an increase in lens price.

As for Sony etc... I haven't used them, so I can't say too much about them. Personally, I'd stick with Canon or Nikon... They have their name for a reason.

Just realised I posted 60D when I meant 600D ops: 60D is a lot more expensive, 600D is almost on par with 1100D.

As s7000 has said the lenses are the important part but please do yourself a favour and spend a little extra if you do go with Canon and get the 600D (or even the newer 650D). The 1100D truly is not worth buying.

But I'd still put the Nikon D3200 above all of those.

As others have said stay clear of the kit lenses. Cheap & nasty. Nikon or Canon what ever your preference & a good 28-200 of same brand as a good alround kit

See Rockwells Web sites reviews of the Nikons. Their kit lenses are really quite good. Get those then a Nikkor 35mm fast lense and you can do a lot.

umm at the risk of sounding dumb - what is blue/green screen technology?

are we talking like the weather man with the green screen behind and putting a background in post photo production?

Here is the kit lens that I got (along with the 18-55) - Nikon 55-200mm VR

I also purchased a 35mm f/1.8 (dx) which is an amazing little lens.

    Cheers
