    micro 4/3 lens adaptors

    Any micro 4/3 camera users here ?

    I'm getting to know my new Olympus OM-D E-M5 and loving it
    seems so familiar to look at (after years of Olympus 35mm SLR's) but oh so much better to use. Absolutely wrapped

    there are not many specific (or affordable) Zuiko micro 4/3 lenses, I'd love a wide aperture prime 25mm lens for it but only avaliable in 4/3 (not micro) so have ordered a 17mm which might turn out fine for low light landscapes, will wait and see. (The camera is awesome in low light)

    my question relates to the plethora of cheap micro 4/3 adaptors on the market, it seems you can fit just about any lens ever made using the adaptors, I assume you would have to be manual focus and manual aperture (or wide open)

    anybody using the adaptors yet ?
    and if I was to use a 4/3 to micro 4/3 adaptor to attach a 25mm 4/3 lens to a micro 4/3 camera will it still have the same 25mm field of view , which is equiv to 50mm in a 35mm film camera (or about the same as the human eye sees)

    hope thats not too confusing

    Not sure there are many of us using 4/3 gear here Don,I use an E3 and love it,and I know that Max (Tusker)has an E3 and an E5,and I think the last time I saw him he had a mico 4/3 camera around his neck,though not sure of the model.And I think the 17mm wil be nice for landscapes,especially in early morning or early evening light.

    Don, you've got it summed up pretty well.

    The Ebay Chinese adapters are hit & miss. Yes they'll be manual, & quality seems to vary. Some are sloppy so your lense isn't exactly square to the sensor. I've heard of some being too tight & couldn't be removed.

    Any 4/3 lense will work with an Oly or Panasonic adapter. Field of view etc is the same 4/3 to M4/3.

    The problems are in focus speeds, particularly CAF. Some 4/3 lenses just aren't quick enough on M4/3. I forget which is which, but it's a phase detect v contrast detect issue. For landscape or portrait stuff it's not an issue, only quick moving stuff - dogs, sport etc.

    If you're thinking 25mm, the Panasonic Leica 25mm F1.4 is a brilliant lense.
