drool. He uses Nikon D35 and D7000 with intervalometer.
Normally for astrophotography I don't bother dragging my camera out if there is a cloud in the sky, but things won't be the same for me again.
The specs say shutter in my mirrorless Olympus OMD em5 is good for 100,000 shutter activations, Nikon quote 150,000 for their SLR's
(as referance point, The Brinno is good for 300,000 frames on one set of AA batteries)
I can see if you want professional results this could be an expensive hobby, its about $250 to replace an OMD shutter, $1300 for a new body.
The Olympus PEN (which is a cheaper camera but takes the same u4/3 lenses is only good for 30,000 frames)
still when I get out to the clear night skies I'm going to give my OMD a flogging.
currently looking for a intervalometer for my D90 so I can do some of this stuff on our trip away.
trying to find a Australian shop where I can buy one that's not the nikon branded one as the nikon one costs lots!
Cant wait to get on though.
Have done a few with my gopro but i'm very unhappy with it's low light performance
theres plenty on ebay, but they are not always listed as 'intervalometer"
nikon d90 timer | eBay
when I buying stuff from China I've found the item where you pay postage gets here a lot faster than the free post stuff, like one week vs 3 weeks
I have the the JYC branded one for my Olympus and it works greater.
I am still holding off for a few ore days or a week to decide what one to get.
The brinno will be about $280 with the weather case.
So what else is there?
What are the Nikon ones you guys are talking about?
only have 2 weeks until I head off on a 2+ year holiday around oz.
that's why I was trying local.
but maybe a china order might be okay
