    Panorama/stitching software

Microsoft's ICE : Microsoft Research Image Composite Editor (ICE)

I was introduced to this via Gary Luhm's site:
Photo Tip: Microsoft ICE for panoramas &#160&#160 2013/09 | garyluhm.net

For some time I've been using other software such as Hugin and Canon's Photostitch to put together photos but this one is extraordinary.

It works with the usual panning shots but also with tilt shift lens movements and I am hard pressed to find the seams.

    Apple users will be disappointed.

    It's free.

    Thanks Mahn.
Been using Canon's Photostitch for some time and ICE is just so much easier to use and does a far far superior job, especially in regard to masking the seams.

Now I'll have to go back and redo a lot of my favourite pano's.

I've heard good reports about "Hugin". I haven't tried it yet as I am on a steep learning curve with digital photography and haven't got as far as pano's. But I am very interested and pano's are on the bucket list.

Hugin is a very sophisticated bit of software and highly technical....probably to its detriment for most users.

What has impressed me with ICE is that it does all the work in the background requiring very little input from the user and does it very quickly and accurately.

Hugin doesn't stitch shots taken with a tilt-shift lens (parallel movements rather than panning movements).

MS-ICE had a few issues in the early releases (crashes, lockups...) also it would only save in a very limited number of graphics file formats, didn't understand RAW or TIFF for importing either. Otherwise it definitely had potential and so it appears it may have followed up on its shortcomings. In that case a good tool for those using Windows
