    Monitor recomendations please...

Fellow photography tragics, I need some recommendations for a new monitor please.

    Budget <$500.

    Candidates are:
    Asus PA248Q
    AOC i2757
    ...anything else you can recommend.

The only criteria I have is the monitor must be good to great for photo editing.

    Cheers.

I ended up with the Asus ProArt PA248Q for $395. First impressions are great. In sRGB mode (factory calibrated) the only change I made when calibrating to the Spyder4Pro was brightness, otherwise the monitor was just about perfect out of the box.

Controls are buttons, not sensor touch and are easy to use. On board 4 port USB 3 hub, the monitor can rotate to the vertical, there's a button that superimposes a grid on the screen in cms, inches, A4, and standard photo sizes.

I would have liked something bigger but they are well outside my budget.

    mmmmm got me thinking now.

The one I have is Asus its been a good monitor as I have had it for mmm 5 maybe 6 years...and its still good now except what I stated above

I can only change to scene modes and I think adjust contrast or brightness (cant remember which one) thats it. its just not got the scope to get the best out of it with my spyder

Whatever you buy it has to be an IPS monitor (for photo editing). This narrows the search somewhat.

Probably a bit late now, but a couple of years ago I bought a ViewSonic LCD monitor that was specifically designed/calibrated to be used for photographic work. Can't remember what made it specifically different, something to do with RGB vs CYM or Abode colour or something (sorry too long ago), but it definitely made SWMBO's life easier with WYSIWYG (crikey this makes me feel old) printing vs monitor image.
