    Hi,
I couldn't see if I was in focus using the Nikon without a 1.5 diopter lens in the eye piece.
They are available as a spare part - not sure if you could get one ground to your optical prescription to suit your astigmatism.
May be worth while checking with your optometrist.

    cheers

The only good diopters available now are from Canon. Nikon does not make them any more.
Te Canon 500d is very good and is working very well with telephotos like the Nikon 300 F/4 and the Canon.

imo diopters never going to have a result like the one in a dedicated macro lens.
I have try to get a close up shot of the Australian Native stingless bee Trigona carbonaria, which are 4mm in length
As can be see in this image there is not enough details in the eye of the insect

I'm assuming your talking about an add on one not the one that is already on the camera eye piece?

.......and I was talking about a complete different diopter, the one in the front of the lens

The one in the camera I adjusted once without wearing my prescribed lens and works well for me.

I struggle as well,as my eyes are not the best anymore
If you have the feature you can use live view, which uses the screen on the rear of the camera, but sometimes it is difficult to see as well, particularly in bright light.

That's was a good link Scarry....It's very long nearly two hours but once you watch it I reckon it would give anyone the inspiration to get out the gear and have a play....what I really took from it is how to change the power on my flash I really didn't think of the dialling down in terms of just adjusting the exposure so im going to give that a try this evening...

I really really need to learn how to use my speedlight more accurately....
Thats what I liked about him also he said that he gets worried when people talk in numbers...so do I because I don't understand a lot of the maths behind photography so it was good to see that others don't either
