Camera short course recommendations - Sydney

Some of the shots I've seen here are amazing. I specifically remember Dullbirds shot of the Landy's when we went to the mountains (because I was in it), and thinking, I wish I could do that...that was some time ago. So time to take action.

I'd like to know more about how to take a great photo and am asking for recommendations on a course in the Sydney area.

    Cheers

Can't help you with your request, as I don't live in Sydney. Yep, some of the photography and photographic tips on this section of the Forum are indeed great.

Being a Nikon person, I now purchase the "N-Photo" magazine purely on recommendations from this section of the Forum. Highly recommended for Nikon users. So you can learn a lot from this section.

However, nothing like being shown in person how to do something is there. Good luck with your photography.

    Hey Mate

I dont know about being able to recommend anyone near where your located however I attended a 6 week evening course at a community collage to learn about my camera because when I got my D80 it was the first DSLR I had ever had and I had no idea how to use it...

    I found the course invaluable...

I could really do with another one really because I have many functions on the D7100 that I need to learn how to use...and I learn better by someone showing me than I do reading a book or the manual.

    Just the way I am

    Catch -22.

Not sure at what level you are looking for training, and being another non Sydney dweller I can't help a lot with a course.

However a couple of years ago I stumbled on some online training videos through Lynda.com which certainly helped me get started.

I had a Nikon D7000 at the time, so Shooting with the Nikon D7000 really helped me get my head around the camera.

I like the way the presenter, Ben Long communicated and have since worked through many of their courses. At US$25 a month , as long as you have a decent internet link it's pretty good value.(No committed term - so you can just buy 1 month)

These two really helped once I had started to understood what all the knobs and buttons did:

    Foundations of Photography-Exposure

    Foundations of Photography-Composition

They have heaps of others around photography and post processing.

It's not face to face and obviously a real teacher is generally better - but they might be worth a look.

    Cheers, Mark

Check out the National Photo Training College.

They have short courses at my RSL in Willoughby.

Terry is a great guy, and has some great information to share.

Shoot me a PM if you want more info, have any questions.
