I hate to say it, but it's not worth repairing. For the money spent repairing (if it is still possible) you can buy a current generation point and shoot camera which will give much better quality pics.

I have a small, slip in the pocket, type camera, an Olympus FE-170, which has always performed faultlessly until a recent family Christmas gathering. I initially thought the problem was due to flat batteries, but with new fully charged batteries the camera will not remain on. It turns on, cycles a few times & then shuts down.
Any recommendations as too a reliable repair location in Melbourne. or possible remedy for the problem?

As above simply not worth repairing a 6MP compact camera, kmart has a waterproof 16mp for $49.
