wide angle track lens for Nikon dslr

Has anyone had experience with the following lens
    Tokina AT-X 116 Pro DX V AF 11-16mm f/2.8 Lens For Nikon

Upcoming trip to Patagonia and thinking of going superwide. Currently have the Nikon 18-200 on a D40

I have the 12-24 Tokina, great lense!! I really don't think you need to go much wider than 12 to be honest and at 12 with square filters you just start to pick up on the filter holder

Thanks eh. I knew there was some Nikon fans here who would help.
The other option was the Nikon 10.5 prime which I feared would be too much of a wide thing ... Lou you point about 12 being the zone helps so thanks

I've used a Sigma 10 - 20 that I'm happy with on my Nikon. Better than Tokina so I'm told

I know from reading a lot of reviews that a few people sold their Nikon equivalent lens to buy the Tokina. In saying that I believe Sigma has an Art lens which is popular with Landscapers I think it's 14mm from memory

Does AULRO have a preferred supplier of glass or do I just chase the bottom of the barrel online?

I've used DWI several times and been very happy.

As Dullbird points out there are users that have chosen the Tokina over the Nikon, I'm one.

I had the Nikkor 12-24mm f/4 AF-S DX and the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X, when I decided to cut back on toys a little, the Tokina is the one I kept.
