    It is interesting that the "spikes" in the photo are the vaporising guy wires to the tower structure.

    The evolution of the fireballs has quite an eerie/evil appearance.

    These shots are amazing.

    The camera they used is called a Rapatronic Camera.

    The shutter works in a similar way to how LCD screens turn on and off an individual pixels. They have two polarising filters mounted at 90deg to block all light. Then when an electrical signal is applied, an object mounted between the filters rotates the light allowing it to pass through.
