Not a bad price. Have you checked: Quality Camera or is that who you are getting it through?
You can get it from B&H in NY for US$309 + US$77 shipping, so not any cheaper there.

Personally I don't like pan & tilt heads, but then I am more into still than video. For me ball head works best.

The 055 series MF tripods are a good compromise. Also you can always change the head over later.

the pan and tilt for me was a comprimise between using the camera and a camcorder.....also hoping to use my camera for some motorsports so i figured pan and tilt would be more suited on a tripod especialy as some of the drag stuff is done at night etc.

whats the diference between the MF and the XPROB apart from the pro you can use the centre coloumn on a sideways angle. i thought you can change the heads on both?

and yes thats through quality camera.

I've got the 055MF3 and the MF stands for MagFibre. This is a cheap compromise on full carbon fibre. The 055XBPRO is an all aluminium leg tripod. Either is good. I felt the MF was stiffer than the aluminium legs and it weighs about 500g less.

Both have the ability to remove the centre column and set it horizontally. They both also have the ability to remove the head.

Have you got one of these yet? Cam-Pod Very handy!
