A creepy morning at The Pinnacle Lookout in the Border Ranges.

Morning Rocky Plains Camp site Snowy Mountains

you like the D7100.....I have one too
I keep thinking about getting a 35mm or 50mm lens
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
I love it (the D7100). The only thing I'm not looking forward to is learning all the controls. After over two years with the LX5 I'm quite happy with how it works but the controls on the Nikon are a bit daunting.
The lens I've got is in the link below. Cost was $279 from camera house, which was very competitive locally.
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8G DX review: Digital Photography Review
The LX5 has an F2 lens (at its lowest zoom) so was great in low light and indoors without flash. When I was looking at DSLR's I wanted a good prime lens that would let me do the same (I can always borrow one of my dads many lenses in the mean time for anything else). I love the depth of field the F1.8 gives me too, its just not something you can play with much on cheapy point and shoots.
I read up a bit about the 35mm vs 50mm first and from all accounts the 50mm lens on the APS-C sensor had too much zoom for general use. Using my 35mm for the evening I'm happy so far. I don't think I'd be able to use the 50mm in my house without facing a lot of difficulty trying to frame shots, I just wouldn't be able to get back far enough.
Some reviews I read were concerned about buying a dedicated DX lens but too but to be honest I cant ever see myself dropping $3k+ on a FX body so not an issue for me.
Pinched my dads tripod and went and took some photos at Kings Park this evening.
Both photos are uploaded via lightroom after a bit of development. I dont like how the buildings are not very sharp in the second photo while the freeway is (it has loads of light though). I want to work on that so the whole image is equally sharp. Not sure if its a focus issue, or lack of light to give the buildings detail but already learning heaps about night time photos.
I quite like the shot of the memorial, I just had to drop the exposure slightly in lightroom to get it looking how I wanted.
