I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand when I saw this picture on my PC. Didn't know I had captured the mantis. In fact, I didn't see or know there was a mantis ... just saw the fly, focused on it and shot.
I had seen the fly earlier, alive and well, so went into the house, got my camera and came back out to look for it. Saw it moving on a leave, went close in and snapped a few shot.
Then saw the mantis, which only a small one, maybe about 35mm or inch and a bit. Only realised later the bug's head had been partly eaten already.
It's a bug-eat-bug world out there. So if you are having a rough day, remember that, at least, no one is eating your head for breakfast. With that thought in your head, which you still have, have a nice day!
