Tim, did you have to remove, resharpen, and reset the tool in that 3 hours?
For something a bit different..... Surface planed the aluminum work table of a new Stone CNC today, (3200mm x 1600mm). It took 3 hours with a 90mm fly cutter....
Cheers,
Tim

Hi Ron, I used the same cutter for the whole job, if I had to guess we'd do about 5 - 10 machine tables before we had to change the tips, (tungsten carbide).
Edit: There is a fair bit of cooling going on though:
Cheers,
Tim
Interesting Tim, which kind of controller and machine brand is.
I used to maintain Mazaks with Fanuc controllers and Index with Simens among others.
I loved the job and closed the business when my back give up.
Hi Arthur south of Hobart
My problem was L5 was ruptured badly, it then took two very long years for my back to settle down again and now am off the anti-inflammatory's, Panadol Osteo and the anti-depressants, though I still have to be very careful with myself when working not to aggravate it again.
A young chap just down the road from me has set up a workshop with some of the older style machines in a old milking shed, I had him do a skim on the back of the 300 TDi water pump housing / axillary bracket where there was some corrosion around the hole where the 'P' gasket sits.
Cheers Arthur north of Hobart
A day at the office, sorry about quality, taken on a throw away Sony phone at 500m away on rapid. The white dot in the background of the top photo is actually a 130 beside a dumptruck. This was a small shot of about 130 holes and about 9 tonne of product. Very rare to have a blow out like that, would have been the result of poor ground infront of one front hole. That is why it is just dust.

Hi Chucaro, the machines are Intermac and the controller is CNI, both brands are part of the Biesse Group, (whom I work for). The controller is a windows based control, the whole PLC is just a PCI card that fits into a computer. We used to use Osai controllers, which would be similar to the Fanuc controllers. Sorry to hear you had to give up the work.
Cheers,
Tim
