And who say's it's a compromise? I certainly don't think they have compromised on the still side of this camera and even if the video is just a bonus extra at 720p or 1240x720/24fps it's right up there with most of the high end pro/am video cameras!

Try it and see what you think?
    Cheers,
the compromise was my opinion...i suppose because when i took a friend to buy a video camera that came with photo function. filming was great the pictures were medioka. but the difference in size between that model and the one below it with out the crap picture function was quite a difference......

and i suppose i would have to have try and see, as i dont believe the filming would be up there with the pro/am film cameras, otherwise you wouldn'y be buying a D90 for just over $1000 when to buy a pro/am film camera in hi def your looking at a min of $5000.

and I'm not saying its not going to happen i know it is, i was just saying in my opinion i wish they would leave the filming to the camcorders and the picture taking to the digital cameras. as you know that its probably not going to be an option in the future to buy a camera without it as they will all have it due to the fact that if they dont all have pretty much the same thing then they get left behind in the market.

I can take pics from my video camera now, would I ? NO i take my camera with me as well. becausde i like to film while i'm taking pictures
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Wow I just looked at that Cannon EOS 5D video, now that is no compromise! I just hope my D90 is 1/2 as good as that!

    Hi John

How have you found the D90 so far? I am currently looking at getting one and was wanting some first hand feedback. How do you find the video and do you have any good photos to post now?

    Cheers

    Hi
I've had a D90 for a month now, upgraded from a D60. I'm extremely impressed. I kept my 18-200 VR Nikkor zoom. The two work very well together. I'm now looking for a longer telephoto zoom, and a macro lens, but the prices are rather scary.
Its not as big or expensive a the D300, not as rugged either, but from reports the results are probably better
Once you understand the limitations of movie mode, I think it will give excellent results, but its no real replacement for a movie camera. The biggest advantage is it exchangeable lens, and the ability to get true depth of field effects. The biggest limitations are the microphone, manual focus, and distortion of moving or panned objects.

    D90 is great

The Nikon d90 is just plain awesome. I got a great price on mine for only $899. You can also go through bing and get 5% off. I got mine from Cameta
