Beautiful detail. Youve inspired me. I've got to pull my finger out and get a t-mount for my D40. The big blue cannon sitting in the corner needs to go out and gather some photons.
I thought I'd bring the old 200mm newtonian telescope out from its dank closet for a run tonight. It hasn't seen the sky in nearly 2 years. The only thing cloudless was the moon for a little while earlier this evening.
Anyway - all good fun!

Good details and sharp. You have a good glass!

Wouldn't mind having a telescope out here! i live on a property so no light pollution! and i can put money on it that every night i will see a shooting star!
James.
So omaroo are these special telesopes you can buy? or are they just like any other telescope and you can just put a fitting on them so you can mount them to your camera?

Thanks everyoneMuch obliged!
Louise - this is my usual imaging rig:
1) With Canon 350D DSLR at prime focus. Scope focal length is 820mm.
2) Same scope with cooled (-20C) monochrome CCD astro camera - capable of ISO20000 or thereabouts. Use RGB colour filters and assemble contone colour image from these. CCD chip is cooled to 30-odd below ambient air temp to eradicate thermal noise associated with long exposures. Additional water cooling will bring the chip temp down to -45C.

WHOA!!! - very humbling stuff!!
Fantastic shot, never get a picture like that this side of the globe.
Wow some serious equipment there chris......
is it just a hobby or is this part of your occupation
