I thought I'd start a thread exclusively for those point-n-click gems that you often get without really trying. I am not a camera aficionado and have been more than happy with the clutch of auto-everything, one-touch pocket cameras I've owned. So here are the rules for the thread:
- Camera must be digital.
- No DSLR, no interchangeable lenses
- No post-processing
- No content restrictions.
Here's my first few...
Mer de Glace, Chamonix
Pentax Optio S4 - still can't believe it ever took a photo this good. Bit noisy but just about all the others this camera took were rubbish.
All the rest here are using a Canon Ixus something-or-other. Pretty much sold me on Canon for point-n-click cameras from here on. First here's a couple of Venice. Doesn't matter how many whizz-bang filters you have, nothing beats the quality of light you get from a good sunrise...
My best "postcard" shot I think:
A shot of the ceiling of the Pantheon in Rome. This makes a great desktop image:
Mountains are by far my favourite subject matter so I have tried to restrain myself and only put two in. This is a shot of the Alps in Austria taken at St Anton am Arlberg:
This next one is, I think, my favourite shot of all, even though it has no mountains. It's a market in Munich:
This is the Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam. The light here was amazing:
Top of the Daimler Chrysler building in Berlin. One of those weird optically fascinating moments:
And finally the old London Eye:
Anyway, I hope this gets people started. Remember, only digital point'n'click shots with no Photoshopping...

Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Ok, haven't used my little camera for a while since getting my DSLR, but here is a few from over the years that are straight out of camera, no post processing has been done!
Enjoy.
Matt.
All of the above look a little better with a crop.
Very nice captures from both of you.
Sorry that I cannot contribute. I do not have a point and shoot camera![]()
This was taken in 2005 with my Canon IXUS400 whilst out for some lunch.
