First off you can do a hell of a lot more in PS7 if that is what you have.....its a very creative tool..if at the moment your not wanting to delve into those sorts of things but just want to be able to colour correct photo's with not to much hassel or change exposure for instance perhaps try getting hold of a program called lightroom over even look at the programs free to photographers in the stickys and see if there is anything in there that is more basic than PS....
You have a nice collection of pics....I would personally say (and I'm not expert) try and aviod heavily contrasting areas as cameras work very hard in these instances trying to meter well to expose correctly.
Also when taking a photo I always try and think to my self what am I trying to portrait? is it the mood of the misty road is it the serenity of the surroundings of the little water fall? ask your self many questions and it will help you take better photo's after all your taking the photo for a reason...what reason is it? when you look back at the photo do you see what sparked your interest in the first place in there do you think your recipients will see what you see?
I love the one of the tree on its own, fills the frame well.......
the one at the bottom with the tank you have lost detail in the sky with it blowing out..in situations like that when it is unavoidable I would lower the camera a bit so you don't get much sky in or try and crop it out.
The funny shaped tree...when ever I find something that interests me like a shape i take a photo of the shape and then I get in closer and make it more interesting...some times taking a close up photo of something that was slightly odd makes it even more interesting.
greta effort though good to see you getting out and about with your camera...
the other thing to do if you are restricted to cropping is be creative with the cropping crop into squares etc.
