José Luis risked a slow shutter-speed to reveal the moonlit sky and conjure up the atmosphere of the place. He switched from using his Nikon D2X to a Hasselblad so he could get the exact framing that he had in mind. What José Luis hopes is that his picture, 'showing the wolf's great agility and strength,' becomes an image that shows just how beautiful the Iberian wolf is and how the Spanish can be proud of this emblematic animal.

The flash will freeze the shot as it will have fired at a lot faster than 1/30".
You can do this even at 1/2" with a flash and the other effect is to strobe the flash through the shot and get multiple images.
Fantastic shot, I love looking at what some of these wildlife guys do some of it is truly amazing.

derek I know flash will freeze a shot.....but it doesn't say he has used flash that was my point! the way I read the write up that a company's the photo is that it was done just using the moonlight. which I would of thought imposible at 1/30 second without motion blurr

Good point but it does also say "purpose-made Ficap infrared camera trap" and reading the articles about it this included a motion sensor and IR trigger. I still suspect the flash was used purely because of the lighting of the image.
It doesn't detract from the fact that it is an impressive shot.
