How to create a signature action in Photoshop

    Open a picture in photoshop
    1. Open the actions palette and click "New Action", give it a name - Mine's called "Insert Signature" - and then click Record.
    2. Click the Horizontal Type Tool and then click in the bottom right of the picture or where ever you want the signature to appear.
    3. Type in your signature (e.g. ©2009 Derek Moore)
    4. Open the Character and Paragraph palette and set the paragraph to right justified, change the font, size, colour etc to suit.
    5. Click tick to finish editing the text and now select this new Text layer from the Layer palette
    6. Open the Layer Style blending options
    7. Set drop shadow, embossing, inner or outer glow etc as desired when done close the Layer Style box
    8. With the Text layer still selected lower the opacity to suit so that the signature is less intrusive if you so desire.
    9. Open the actions palette again and click the "Stop Recording"

To run the action open a new image, select the action from the action palette and click the run button.

End result is something like this:

By the way that signature block size in this example is exaggerated. It's from a 10,500 pixel wide panorama and only occupies a small fraction of the corner.

I deliberately don't merge layers or save the image as part of this action because you may want to further adjust the font size for some images, use a different colour or opacity etc.

On a Mac it is Option+G

On a PC ALT+0169 (using the numeric keys)
