Do everyone including yourself a favour and leave the Dog at home.
If you want to cut back, maybe take a leaf from my book..
Tent
couple of sleeping bags
two camping chairs
2 burner cooker + gas + couple of forks + 2 pans + kettle.
1 esky
bag of clothes
toolbox with tools/spares etc.
I'm not equipped for serious outback touring, but the above did us fine for 4 days worth of camping.
If you want to cut back, look at each and every item you pack, and really criticise it's worth. do you really need two toilets? two cookers? two tarps?

I get your point, somewhat. Wording your post differently might have avoided making yourself look like someone who whinges and whines and is overly concerned about other people's affairs. I couldn't give a rats @r$e about how much gear anyone else camps with...just my own.
If I thought I'd be doing myself a favour by not having the dog there, I wouldn't bring him in the first place. Pointless post.
To everyone else, thanks for the ideas and suggestions. A few of them I'm seriously considering!
It is my affair when it is someone in my group.
Because more often than not we get stuck waiting for them to sort their kit and we almost always end up having to pull them out of a bog because they over weight their rigs.
Oh and Iḿ curious. Which part of my post consisted of whining and whining?
I don't think we have excessive gear but have now managed to overflow into a trailer as well. I'd rather keep it all in the car but towing the trailer isn't a big drama and packing/unpacking is much quicker.
We have 3 kids so trying to fit 5 in the D3 plus all the gear is a big challenge. Unfortunately the bigger the family the more gear,
Bigger tent - black wolf turbo twin 300
5 sleeping bags and mats/airbeds (this is bulky as the bags and beds are cheapies)
5 sets of clothes
more food
I can and have fit 4 in the D3 with the esky on the back seat but 5 won't fit unless I use the roof and I haven't got racks yet.
I'm sure though if I had more compact gear, a smaller tent it may be possible to jam everything into the car though. Might have to leave the teddy bears home though...not sure how that would go down!
3 kids, four kayaks, enough food and water for 5 days no probs, the cargo barrier is the key.

yeah, so you can carry even more carp....
before the camper we could pack for 2+2+2dogs just with addition of a roof box. it is fairly easy to do you just need to think about it, rear storage box helps.
try laying all your stuff out at home and select just the stuff you need, surprised how much will be left behind...![]()
