    Tough storage tubs

I'm after some storage tubs for camping. I refuse to buy the cheap clear tubs on offer from Bunnings et al, as they invariably don't last.

I'm looking for the black, last 20 years type tubs with lids (preferably snap lockable and stackable). I'm planning on making a mesh frame for the back of the Defender and therefore also would like these tubs to have a lip at the top to slide into some C channel.

Spacecases etc are overkill and too expensive.

Anyone know where to find something to suit my needs?

    ummmm

how about the black recycled plastic tubs you get from bunnings?

same shape and size as the white ones, just black and recycled.

the alternative is to hang around food markets, they offload them at semi regular intervals. Every place has a different cycle but one of the local food mart type stalls at the ipswich market has about 20 or so every 3rd month. they usually last till about 0705.

I'll check out Bunnings tomorrow night. I need to source the bits to make one of Incisors 12V camplights anyway.

See your local butcher and have a look at his tubs. They should be called nelly tubs, can buy them in a few different sizes, very durable and strong with a good lip on the top.

In Melbourne l bought some from a plastic barrel and crate place in Mordialloc, were built for Nufarm for posions were large black boxes with thick green lids with snap lock handles either side $5 apiece.

They also had fishing crates in sizes 20 40 and 60 litres from the fishing industry and assorted wine and vingar screw top barrels

Sure if you hunted about you would have similar specialist outlet in Qld

Would you remember the name of the place that you went to for these? Or an address. Being not far from me, I'll check it out and get back to here on what they have.
