Thanks, the price is right. However, the floor space looks to be 2.6 x 1.4 which would be ok for now but not after the kids grow taller than 1.4m.

Peter has a few 1.8m tents available now, we just prefer going to the extra size and twin ladders. So we have to wait.

Yep, we will drop into Hannibal next week to look at the 1.8m x 2.4m tents. I too am leaning toward the 2.0m long version. The eezi awn is 2.2 x 2.4m which is also a good size.

I have both ezi awn tent and awning. The tent is of high qual - have used it in some serious rain - v warm and dry, well made. Mattress v comfy too.

Re the awning -I liked the hard alum case when choosing, but it has proved a bit hard to put away - needs to be rolled up perfectly. No ropes needed but if windy I usually employ a few guy ropes with pegs to be sure.

It looks like the hannibal tents weigh 50 kg and the Ezy Awn at a whopping 95kg. Arn't you limited to 35kg on the roof of a defender off road and 70kg on road?? Do people using them find they make the car top heavy?? I went down the camper trailer route because I was worried about insurance etc (outside of manufacturers specs) and roll overs. Just my 10 cents worth though.

To the best of my knowledge we are allowed 150kg total up there.

The figure of 75 kg is often stated as the offical maximum roof load for a Defender but I have not seen any Land Rover documentation saying this. The current (2007) Defender Owner's Handbook (Publication Part No. LRL100251801) says the maximum is 150 kg including the weight of the rack. The Handbook also says "driving off-road with a loaded roof rack is not recommended". It is emphasised that this is particularly so when traversing side slopes and in such situations roof racks should be unloaded!

Can only back up that Juddy is pointing you in the right direction. (wish I had been the first to say that) Don't have the tent yet, but the rest of my Hannibal products are top quality. It's hard to put the awning up without someone coming over to comment on it.

thanks for bringing up weight. I hadn't really considered that.

However, I think they will be about the same weight. The Hannibal tent that is 1.2m x 2.4m is 50kg. I am assuming the Hannibal that is 2.0m x 2.4m will be just short of double that. Which means it will be nearly the same weight as the Eezi Awn at 95kg.
