I had the pole on a cheap dome tent fail at the weekend, I only use it for short stays because it's easier to get off the roofrack than my Southern Cross tent and this was maybe it's third outing.

OK when erected, OK overnight then during the day I noticed something pointy sticking into the top of the flysheet. A pole had broken right next to a ferrule.
Managed to pack some cardboard between the broken pole and the flysheet to save further damage and it kept the rain out Saturday night.

I visited Anaconda today and a very helpful person gave me a section of pole to carry out repairs (means unthreading the elastic cord etc.) but it crossed my mind to track down a piece of tube that will slip over the pole & ferrule to carry in future for an emergency repair.
They also had a repair kit comprising 4 pole sections and some elastic cord for about 40% of the original cost of the tent

You don't get much for $50 nowadays.....
