Best pump flow rate for onboard water tank

I've been looking at 12v water pumps for a floor mounted tank.
There are lots of different flow rates and pressures and I've no idea how they equate to real world usefulness.

I'm thinking that something around 4L/min and 40psi would be good, but interested to hear what others use.

    water pump

Hi Steve G, I have in my caravan a pump 4L/min. and 40PSI and working perfect for us, I think bigger pump will be a waste of water, if you think in about 15 min you empty a tank of 60L. I hope this help. Regards Carlos

Thanks Carlos. I've since found a few tank and pump kits on the internet and they all seem to use pumps around the 3.5-5L size too.

Mines a Flojet pump which delivers 4.5 l/min if I remember correctly. Don't know the pressure, but it works well.

Thanks Numpty - exactly the same one I've bought.

No, but if you google Flojet you'll find them and ebay has a large array of plastic water tanks to suit nearly any application

Attached is a link for a mob who sell various pumps and plenty of other good stuff for vans and campers, the pump the link goes to is the one I will be replacing the standard Shureflow pump that our van came with and which is extremely noisy. The Flojet is meant to be very quite and if it does negate the need for an accumulator then that is another good thing.

FLOJET 12V Auto Pump, Triplex, QUAD & 1/2 in Barb & 1/2 in BSP, variable 2.6 to 11 Litres/m | Caravan Electric Pumps | CaravansPlus

They also have water tanks, won't vouch on how competively their pricing is compared to other outlets as I don't know. At the least it gives you a starting point.

I will say though I have bought stuff from them and they are friendly and helpful.

    cheers,
    Terry
