The idea of the swag rolled out on a roof rack is a great idea!!

I have owned a Hannibal roof tent for the past 7 years and can say that it's probably the best tent I have ever owned.
Now that I have 2 small kids (2yr and a baby), it's just not practical as a family tent, but man that tent was comfortable!!! I and had better night sleep in that than at home. (Maybe due to the beers in the bush ;-)

I would suggest you make due with what you have and save some cash to get something that'll last you years to come - or spend the same amount over the years on cheap alternatives...?

I am interested to know what your end-game has been. Now that it is around 2 years further down the time-line. Do you still have a roof top tent? If so what one.

I am keen as we have a 2 kids and have been looking for something practical, but not a trailer.. keen for your thoughts/experience.
