Thread: Rooftop tents

Hi. We looked at a few RTTs and loved the Hannibal but not its price. As it's only going to be used a couple of times a year, we bought this one: ALL DIRECT SHOP items - Get great deals on Category 1 items on eBay Stores! Despite the low price tag it is made in South Africa and passed with flying colours on our first serious outback trip over summer. Good points: midgie proof mesh, enter under cover, mostly YKK zips, approx 50kg, super-useful side awning (definitely buy the optional zip-on screen walls to use it as a tent on fine nights or to eat meals away from the flies), good ventilation, good mattress etc. Jon's criteria posted above are very good and the only real hassle we had was the separate skirt thing. It needs to be stored and then zipped on which is a bit tedious. But we hardly used it. The awning is much more useful and very easy to use.

Looks exactly like the "Uptop",, (price and all),, good deal, especially when your only using it a few times a year,,. The only problem we ever have with ours is condensation. And from what I've been told, nearly "all" RRT suffer from this, no matter what the price,,
I guess in a few years time, we will know for sure if the "cheapie" has been worthwhile or not,, but for what its saved us in accomodation, time saved from putting up elaborate tents etc,, we're happy

    Chops
