I bought some for our most recent trip. We found it helps keep the kids a bit cleaner for longer, especially when its dusty. It made our long term camping in the camper trailer a bit more pleasant.

Yep we have a CGear mat and it is a great product. It is 20ft by 8ft for our 23ft van. It works great on sandy sites and debris sweeps off it very easily. It has steel rings for pegging it down and is allowed to be used in caravan parks as it won't kill the grass. It is no good however for mud/water. It just seeps straight through it as to be expected. These things are durable enough that some caravan parks use the cgear mats for tent sites and powered sites in lieu of concrete slabs. Happy with ours. We also have CGear sides for the annex.

Ours is great. I was a bit sceptical, but at a 4WD show I looked at all the competitors, then stumbled across someone selling the CGear stuff. The had a tub of sand, with a small sample of all the options on the market. The CGear left the rest for dead. I still can't work out how they manage to have sand fall through, but unable to come back up.
Bloody expensive, but hopefully should be a long investment.
I was fortunate enough to be given one for the Rooftop tent annexe and as described above, it works brilliantly with sand. Even if you walk on it with wet sandy feet, it will all fall through when dry.
It might not be great for really wet muddy conditions but if the ground's just dirty then it's by far a better solution than walking on the dirt.
If you can get one cheaply then go for it, particularly if you're spending a lot of time on sand. If the price is concerning you and you're not heading for the desert or beach anytime soon, maybe a simple tarp will do the job. Or some wellies.
