I have a Super-Peg brand super wing awning. Have to agree with all of the positive comments here.
About all I have done to mine was seam seal some of the stitching. But that me being anal over a few drops after several days of rain.

I have a 3m version on the 130. We went that big so we could do away with a tarp. The 3m has one or two more poles compared to it's little 2.5 brother, and is a tad more to set up. But we are happy with the choice and given how little it rains when we camp it has replaced the tarp beautifully.

Mate these look to have the same coverage as a Fox. I like the idea of no poles, but me thinks the reality of a good gust of wind you'll be sorry. I'm sure they have tested in light winds, but it's that rogue big bust that reeks havoc.
All these awning are capable of catching a lot of wind.

I see from a link in another thread, that eezi-awn (from memory) have a similar type, interesting awning that looks like the poles fold down from where they are stored in each cantilever arm.

    Edit;
The Supa-Wing offers more coverage than the FoxWing. The Rapid-Wing offers the same coverage as the FoxWing but does not require ropes and has a better grade of canvas.

The Supa-Wing or Rapid-Wing can be made to whatever size you want whereas the FoxWing comes in one size only.

When you look at the picture, look at the sunlight coming through the canvas - you don't get this with the Supa-Wing 11oz canvas.

I'm afraid i can't offer any input on the two awnings that are up for discussion here, but I found this one on ebay recently.

At that price it has got to be imported but gee whiz, this is what competition in the market can do - I paid not a lot less than the value of this one a couple of years back for a 2.5 x 2.5 (IIRC) ARB branded one (just a square, not the wing shaped one...)

I hope the kids in the factory in China were paid more than 50c an hour...

That is exactly why a Super Peg is the price they are. Made in Queensland with at least a dozen staff. I've been to the factory and no Chinese there.
Fox wing are mot that much cheaper, but are Chinese made with Aus profit added.

Had the foxwing for years and found it great.

Parts are readily available if needed as well.

The wind got hold of ours once and broke a knuckle joint, easy fix, picked up parts from autobarn.

As others have said,i wouldn't trust any in windy weather without ropes, and for the foxwing that means two on each pole. And big pegs or sand bags on each rope on the beach.I never leave ours up at night if it is windy.

The other types in this thread look good, just a matter of looking at them to see what suits you the best. The bigger coverage would be handy at times, but that also means you have to be even more careful in windy weather.

We were at Birdsville early this year, and were using large rocks in use-again shopping bags to hold down the fox wing. A sudden storm blew up, and we were amazed at the strength of the wind that literally hurled the bags (at least 5-10 kgs each) up over the car, breaking the awning in the process!

Still amazed the bags managed to clear the bonnet and the windscreen

I like these awnings, but you must be vigilant.

The same awning is available from Pinnical Campers for $270, we got one last week, there is also a roof top tent available with the awning as a package for $320.

Not the best quality, and will need to be modified a bit, we got it for the mechanism, we will be putting our own quality canvas on it and where the thing pivots needs to be strengthened and cut shorter as it doesn't open all the way around to the back, as you can see in the photo, the pivot jams on the holding bracket which stops it going all the way around, poor design.

Perhaps something to factor in as well. Fox wing market that one can zip the awning to the tent. Though a reasonable idea, the reality would be for the original setup only I'd say. If the car is moved then the reality of lining up zips again would be remote, or with a fair bit of backward and forward, and over a bit. Then back again, stop, na go forward.........
