I've got a foxwing, had it since they were available. In that time I've set it up hundreds of times. The only problem I've got is that you really need two people to set it up in windy conditions (tell me an awning that is a one man job in high winds anyway?), as such I've snapped 3 of the 4 knuckles over the years. Other than that I love it!
I'm looking at turning up a proper steel knuckle set for mine. The factory ones are only crappy cast items that will break if you lean on them too much!
It's been set up in massively high wind areas and has held up brilliantly. Double guy ropes for heavy wind - no worries.
I'm not sure about the awnings that say they don't need to be pegged down... Wait until the wind picks up!
EDIT: I have an oztent that I zip up to my foxwing also. Don't waste your money on the special zipper they sell, I modified the zips on the foxwing to accommodate the oztent. Works a treat.
Cheers

Was camping with a mate who has a super peg the other day. A rogue gust of wind sent it over the defender while he was setting it up, much to his disgust.
Too our amazement we just pulled it down back into where it all should be and carried on. No damage at all. The alloy hinge mechanism didn't distort at all. The plastic inserts that fix into the poles and secure the bolts to the hinge just flexed over and back again. Awesome.
I have another mate who has a Fox Wing who had the same unfortunate experience. Broken hinge and unusable until repaired. Perhaps carry some spares if that's your brand.
Will do mate. If I get the time at work I might turn up a few sets. They would be a very handy thing for all foxwing owners to have.
Does anyone have an Ostrich Wing awning? ...they look super HD for a couple of $100 more... bigger packed size on the side of the rack though, 25kgs too much day in day out? Or good to have? Looks like there is no weak plastic knuckle hinge to break. ...I'm tempted! but its on a long list of yet to be afforded Defender gear!
I once saw a Fox Wing blown right over the roof of a Prado, totally wrecking the awning, so I wouldn't use any of them unless I roped it down.
