If you don't have a roof rack how are you supposed to carry them?

I'll add another vote for the coleman dual fuel stove. We use 2x single burner units, leave with them full (about 600ml ea) and carry a 2L steel can of spare shellite. Very economical to run, and is the hottest fuel stove I've ever used (I think it's 15,000BTU).

IF you run out of shellite, they work equally well on ULP !! Always easy to find ULP ... easier than finding LPG in the bush. Also use a Coleman North Star dual fuel lantern (as well as LED's). Super bright area lighting.

All my LPG cylinders were out of date and rather than replace the cylinders went to the dual fuel after some research, and after having used LPG for such a long time, find the dual fuel thing easier, more compact, and has much more heat output. Can be de-pressurized before packing in the the vehicle too !

Also nice to be able to place each single burner stove in a different location when cooking if required. I carry 2 x folding windsheilds to sit around the stoves.

Out on a holder on the back of the vehicle, up on top or leave them at home IMO. I don't put gas cylinders in my car personally, but in reality there are very few incidents and hundreds, if not thousands of people do it.

On a defender yes, back of a D2 I don't think so, or I could just see DM digital doing it on this.



Each to there own. I have been doing it for years and have no problem with it.

Having said that I do like the idea of the duel fuel stove, not for the safety side but gas bottles are a pain to carry.

A few bits of scrap steel, a couple of hours and a hand full of tec screws and I'd soon have a gas bottle holder screwed to the back of that D4...

What would be nice camping would be a few bottles of Aulro Red, a heavy diesel color with a hint of 75/90

Funny how some people won't consider carrying a fuel in a solid steel container with a raft of safety procedures, but are probably happy to carry a different fuel in a fragile plastic container with a screw top. Both can be safe& both can be dangerous.
