So I gave the swag to my daughter today for her 21st birthday, and she loved it. Then she said, "Burke and Wills, didn't they die a horrible death in the outback?"

I have been looking at Hannibal Roof Top Tents for a while and they are made in South Africa with "Australian Made Canvas" Interesting. Thanks for that.

An unusual present, the first hint to move out of home
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Classic response ... At least she knows her history!

Tell her to steer clear of cooper creek and she should be right

She moved out three years ago, and as she is in Tamworth all her friends had swags, so she wanted one. Even my 18 year old has moved out now, we must be terrible parents .

These Guys seem to be the only manufacturer of real canvas in Australia

WCT >> Wax Converters Textiles Australia >> Australian Textile Manufacturer

They say they actually weave here in AU

My wife son and I all have Downunder swags. We have the Dingo as it is compact and easy to roll out or prop up the ends using a short pole. They have fancier models like the Jumbuck if you want a more dome type arrangment

They are Aussie made and tough as teak. Check out their link below

Good on you Jeff - Raising self reliant children...

Both my Lads were out of home by age 18...
Leaving Emma and I as "empty nesters" by the time I was 40

I left home at 16 and never moved back... Modern kids have it too soft!
