OK seeing you don't like the auger type, I usually use pressed metal tent pegs.
These grab sand much better than plastic and a major advantage to me is that they are light and they nest.
However they don't come in 450mm.
Have a look on this page and there are lots of alternatives, and to me the best for you would be the pressed steel ones.

I have used the curved/spade shaped pegs that go up to about 45cm in length. Good for really soft sand but if you hit rorks or hard dirt and need to hit them in you mangle up the curved top lip and they don't pack together as well after that. More useful for hiking/backpacking due to their light weight.
If it car camping and extra weight isn't an issue I found primus angle iron pegs about 45cm long. Hold well in soft sand and can be belted in hard with a hammer no problem. Heavier but well worth buying and can be found at Anacondas/BCF/Rays Outdoor. Around $7 each I think.

I highly recommend the supapeg. Can be hard to remove from harder ground though.
