    QLD National Parks Online Booking

I notice they've updated the online booking system. Thought it couldn't be any worse than the old crap system, but they never cease to amaze. I can't seem to bring up any site for booking. Anyone else able to choose a park for booking?

One of the great joys of camping in a NP used to be the freedom to turn up anytime and choose a site.

The new booking system is atrocious. What happens if you book, then turn up and the site is occupied? Or you haven't been there before and there's no shade at the site you e booked? Or if you simply change your mind about where to stop on a road trip??

Not sure what to do about it... Yet

Was thinking about Carnarvon Gorge, but have decided to defer that until next winter. Now thinking about northern NSW coast somewhere. Coming?

Or they allocated you the worst campsite , but no one else turns up during your entire stay. We won't stay in NP's that need pre booking.

Except in School holidays Carnarvon Gorge is a private campground owned by the Japanese. Expensive but nice with meals put on at night if you want.

Are you referring to Takarakka? Not sure what you mean about the Japanese ownership?

Mate of mine is a ranger at Carnarvan. He tells me they are stating work on sealing the access road shortly. Should be all finished by April. Only the Last bit in the park will be left gravel. Creeping death as far a I am concerned

Takaraka is great when it's not school hols. Way to many people allowed to camp there in peak periods. N.P camp is better then

Yes very concerned...Nothing like bringing the wilderness to the bush; the urban jungle to the peace and quiet of nature. Soft roader, user-pays, kills the NP reason for being.
